December 2
Read Titus, then Pray Psalm 17. Titus 3:4-8 is a powerful reminder of who God is and who we are: His children for whom He has given everything. Study these words!!
December 3
Read Philemon, then Pray Psalm 18. The forgotten book of the New Testament, Philemon is a beautiful example of what it looks like to follow Jesus.
December 4
Read Hebrews 1-2, then Pray Psalm 19. Hebrews is a tremendous gift for understanding the relationship between the Old Testament and the New Testament. Chapter 1 begins with the key to reading both: Jesus! Our God has spoken!! How did He speak? What did He say? Enter: Hebrews.
December 5
Read Hebrews 3-4, then Pray Psalm 20. Jesus is not just a character in the story, He IS the character and He IS the story. He is what makes this story the true story! See 4:12!
December 6
Read Hebrews 5-7, then Pray Psalm 21. Jesus is true man and true God. The true priest and the true king. Zoom in on 5:7-10 and then follow up by zooming in on Hebrews 6:13-20. Chapter 7 then shows how Jesus’ priestly office and reign are codified since He is of the order of Melchizedek, whose name means “King of Righteousness”.
December 7
Read Hebrews 8, then Pray Psalm 22. This chapter is a pivot point in both the message of this letter. Spend extra time here, noting the use of the words “promises” and “covenant”. Promises are what God does for us, and a covenant is a partnership. The problem has always been on our end, which is why Jesus is so important. He fulfilled the Old Covenant so as to usher in the New Covenant, were we are made into His people by His work! Take special note of verse 6 and how that relates to verse 13. This is why we don’t go to temples anymore. WE are now the temples and we carry Jesus with us wherever we go!
December 8
Read Hebrews 9-10, then Pray Psalm 23. These two chapters are a perfect match for Psalm 23. These two chapters teach us how Psalm 23 becomes possible. Make sure to write Hebrews 10:10 on your heart as the reason you can always know that Psalm 23 applies directly to you!
